Hush

A peep through the curtains was all it took for her to realize her doom. Her screams, her plea, her cries didn't drive an inch into her parents skin, instead they smiled, congratulated her and planned a grand feast for her dismiss.

Her mother or so she thought tried to comfort her with lies and deceit, but she could not be swayed she could see right through the facade.

  • " He would take good care of you, you would be his fifth but he wouldn't love you any less"

How could they be so cruel, she was only thirteen years old, she was no fool. Fatima was told the same thing before she was taken away at the cause of child birth, only fifteen years, now gone,WASTED, not the first and definitely not the last. Forgotten, was she the only one who mourned the death of their second child, was she the only one who could hear the devil's snicker?.

The same old hag was here again to claim his prize, he graced his presence in their home and was worshipped like a king, how come they were slaves in their home, cleansing his feet and filling his enormous belly, you could just cut through and mother quadruplets.

He flashed his greasy brown kolanut bathed teeth at her, smiling sheepishly seeing he had won the prize. She was repugnant, furious and hopeless. She certainly isn't the first and wouldn't be the last. In a year over hundreds of them were taken away and forced away from their homes by those they grew to love and call their own, some grow into it and accept their fates, a fate that could kill them, a fate so cruel that their society embraced, a fate that wasn't truly hers.
Who would mourn her?
Who truly cared?
Could she ever have a glimpse of freedom ?
She would go like the others before her and others to come like a plucked feather in the wind.
